Therapeutic Massage

Therapeutic Massage is the massage of soft body tissues performed with the hands. Its purpose is to produce therapeutic effects on the muscular, nervous, circulatory and lymphatic systems of the body. It aims to prevent and alleviate pain, discomfort, muscle spasm and stress and therefore promote health and well being.

Conditions that can respond well to massage include:

v      Chronic and temporary pain

v      Headaches

v      Hypertension

v      Insomnia

v      Reduced range of motion

Caution is needed with the following conditions; please check with your doctor before seeking a massage

v      Inflammation of the veins (phlebitis)

For a full body massage you will be asked to remove clothing to your level of comfort. Undressing takes place in private and a gown is provided. Only the part of the body being massaged is undraped, ensuring your modesty is respected at all times. Throughout the massage various movements and pressures are used including long strokes, kneading, friction and vibration techniques.
